Well after a week of roofing and rain and miscalculations, the roof is up on Dick and Lena's house!! Thank you so much for your help with this....we have many pictures I will upload at a later time, but they are so excited and thankful to you! Their faith in God has been strengthened through you, and their faith in the generosity of humanity has also been strengthened. It has been a great time of bonding and connecting on a human level with them and their children and grand children. We truly feel as if we are a part of their family. We also are going to have a bit of video of them speaking about their lives and what the new roof truly means to them, and somehow we will get that to you guys to see. We are coming home for three weeks over Christmas! We leave this great country in exactly one month and it is already beginning to sink in. There is so much need here and there are so many people we have met and made connections with...the children we mentor, the adults we have served, the people we have shared with...we will miss them greatly, and they have taught us so much about ourselves and about "issues" such as poverty or AIDS....
We can not wait to come home and share with you all of our experiences and our plans for the future. We love you and are grateful for your support and prayers!

ReplyDeleteMy goodness your lives are full are they not??? I have read some of your blogs and my heart is so sad, and happy at the same time. The work you are doing is AMAZING! The way your compassion shows thru in your journaling helps me to know that the path that you are on is the right one for you. You are unbelievable, and I am so proud of the both of you for digging in and working so diligently to spread the word of God. Boy they need it huh? Roger and I will be back home hopefully at the end of December if all goes well over the next few weeks. I would love to be able to see you both and catch up. You have quite a story to tell, and I am anxious to hear about even a small portion of your journey. Keep up the terrific job, and stay healthy!!!
