We hope you all are well! I apologize for the lack of posts lately, we have been trying to "scrounge" up a ton of money for all of our airline expenses and accomodations! All in all, we have raised 24,000 dollars for fees since arriving! WHEW! That's a ton of money! We couldn't have done it without your help either. Business first, we still have about 800 dollars needed by the end of this week, so if you know of anyone who might want to donate, or if you have someone you could mention it to, we would be very appreciative.

This is Marcos.
All of last week was a local outreach week. We went to local Hawaii towns and walked around and met people. We listened to their stories and we photographed them. We have so many amazing stories to tell you all when we come home! (Aug. 27th- Sept. 10th/ Lynchburg and Grand Haven)

This is Pono.
Yesterday, Jeanette and I entered into a local art festival with some friends from our organization. It was just a really fun day of trying to raise money for expenses and being able to educate people on issues such as human trafficking and infanticide in the Amazon. So many people were receptive and wanted to hear about it! It was amazing! We also sold some of our photographs that we had made into mats and cards. One of the team members had fundraiser bracelets made by Philippine families. They use the bracelets as a source of income so they do not have to sell their children into prostitution to survive.
The main message we had to people though was using our God-given weapons to fight injustice around the world. I firmly believe that our VOICE is the strongest weapon against all of these things. As we learn, we tell. And as others learn, they tell. This acts as a catalyst for change. When we look through history, oppressed and suppressed people usually always have one thing in common....forced ignorance. When people speak truth and educate others, most of these issues will start to curb. We won't see it over night, but if we all stand and speak out, we CAN CHANGE the course we are headed for. I recently saw a quote in a little boutique that read,
"If we do not change the our course now, we are going to end up where we are headed".
Such truth in those words. We don't want to be the generation that let slavery take a stranglehold on the women and children of our world. We don't want to be the people to have lived and watched as whole nations are wiped out....we don't want that, and we can't stand for it.
Today is the day to SPEAK out. We can't afford not to.
